For your convenience, we are happy to offer online payment for new alarm registrations, renewals and assessments.  We have discovered that some CREDIT CARD "GUEST" payers who Don’t have a PayPal account? may experience an error - PayPal is likely recognizing the email with an existing PayPal account and therefore rejects the use of a credit card.  The solution may be to use a different email or submit a check.  We apologize for this inconvenience.

TUCSON POLICE DEPARTMENT ALARM UNIT

The Tucson Police Department Alarm Unit enforces the City of Tucson Alarm Ordinance #10967, which regulates Alarm Users, Alarm Businesses, Alarm Agents, and Monitoring Companies. The City of Tucson's Alarm Ordinance is intended to encourage the improvement in reliability of alarm systems and devices to reduce the incidence of false alarms at businesses and residential structures, thereby ensuring that police personnel will not be diverted from responding to actual criminal activity.

 


 

Together with the Tucson Police Department you, too, can help reduce the number of false alarms. Here is a list of resources to aid in doing your part:

ALARM BUSINESSES

Alarm Agents and Alarm Business Licensure, Certification and Registration are now regulated by Arizona Revised Statutes 32-101 through 32-122.

ALARM USER AWARENESS CLASS

If your alarm site is registered and this is your second False Alarm violation you may attend an Alarm User Awareness Class in lieu of paying the designated assessment.

Eligibility

  • You have not attended an Alarm Awareness Class for any alarm violation during your current registration period.
  • You register for the Alarm User Awareness Class within (30) days from the date of invoice.
  • Your case is not set for a hearing.

Advantages of Attending the Alarm User Awareness Class

  • You will not pay a fee for the second false alarm violation.
  • There is no charge to attend the class.
  • You gain information on false alarm prevention.
  • Gain insight on the relationship between you, your alarm company and the police.

If your alarm site IS NOT registered and you have been issued an assessment for a False Alarm, you may attend an Alarm User Awareness Class.

Eligibility

  • Pay the $100 service fee
  • You register your alarm site within (10) days of the invoice.
  • Register for the Alarm User Awareness Class within (30) days from the date of invoice.
  • Your case is not set for a hearing.

Advantages of Attending the Alarm User Awareness Class

  • You will not pay an assessment for the first alarm violation ($100.00 service fee still applies).
  • There is no charge to attend the class.
  • You gain information on false alarm prevention.
  • Gain insight on the relationship between you, your alarm company and the police.

To attend this course, you must enroll within 30 days of the false alarm assessment invoice date, and complete the course within 90 days of the invoice date.
